Walnuts keeps heart disease at bay through lower cholesterol without weight gain

  • Doctors tracked cholesterol levels of over 700 elderly men and women
  • Half were given about 2oz of walnuts while others ate as normal 
  • Levels of harmful cholesterol were found to have fallen in walnut eaters
  • Those given the nuts as part of their diet did not experience weight gain
