Sex offender facing more jail time for taking meth – The West Australian

Police are investigating whether dangerous sex offender Warren John Ricky Ugle breached his strict supervision order by taking methamphetamine last week.

Ugle was declared a dangerous sex offender after three separate attacks on females, including an 11-year-old girl, during burglaries between 1992 and 2007.

He was due to be sentenced in the Supreme Court today for defying his order by smoking cannabis weeks after he was released from jail in November last year.

Lawyer Susan Markham told the court the State wanted to re-open its case into contravention proceedings because a urine test collected from him last week allegedly detected meth.

She said Ugle had not yet been charged over the latest alleged breach because police wanted to interview him by video and there was a problem with the technology at Hakea Prison.
