‘Untouchable’ Formby paedophile given 18 years jail for raping schoolgirl

A Formby nurse who committed a “campaign of rape” against a schoolgirl after helping her with her homework has today been locked up for 18 years.

Peter Reddaway, aged 52, of Hawksworth Close, Formby, denied six counts of rape against the youngster, but was found guilty by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court.

During evidence in the case, the jury also heard how Reddaway has cheated on his wife with a live-in nanny during the same period.

Judge Steven Everett said Reddaway’s victim was right to describe him as a “calculating paedophile” who hid beneath a veneer of respectability.

He said: “You are a man without any moral fibre in reality, hiding behind the façade of caring for the public.

“Sexually at least for some reason you were just simply unable to control your behaviour.”
