Man denies plying girl with cannabis and vodka before raping her, court hears

A 38-year-old man abducted a ‘troubled’ pre-teen girl off the street and plied her with vodka and drugs before raping her in his Gloucester flat, a jury was told today.

The girl was in Gloucester city centre when she met Steven Letts, now 39, as he passed her in the street and asked him for a ‘fag’, prosecutor Sarah Regan told Gloucester Crown Court.

She and Letts then walked off together, Ms Regan said.

The girl was missing for the next few hours, during which time she was in Letts’ flat drinking alcohol, smoking cannabis and using cocaine before he raped her, the prosecutor alleged.

Letts, formerly of Barton Street, Gloucester, but now of Charter Court, Victoria Street, denies abducting the girl earlier this year and raping her.
