Rape accused tells court ‘there was sexual chemistry’

A MAN, accused of carrying out a serious sexual assault, told a jury there was “sexual chemistry” between him and the woman.

Shaun Wyn Jones, of Lombard Street, Porthmadog, denies two charges of rape and one of sexual assault and is standing trial at Caernarfon Crown Court.

The 25-year-old accepted he had met the woman at Festival No 6 in Portmeirion near Porthmadog on September 10 and had gone to her home the following day.

But he denied prosecution claims he had had sex with the woman without her consent.

Asked by defence barrister Dafydd Roberts to explain what had taken place Jones said he had gone to the woman’s home and knocked on the front door and a window.

She had then opened a door and he had gone inside.
