WEYMOUTH – Police and school officials are investigating a reported sexual assault at Weymouth High School on Monday.
School committee Chairwoman Lisa Belmarsh said the person accused of the assault is in custody.
“There is not some unknown person running around the school,” she said.
A statement sent out Tuesday by Schools Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple and high school Principal Alan Strauss said the incident “involves minor students.”
“As some of you may have heard, there was an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the building yesterday,” the statement reads.
When informed of the incident, school officials contacted police and “took appropriate action in accordance with our Code of Conduct,” the statement reads. “This is an unfortunate event and we want to be mindful of the possible effects that this may have
