Galesburg man found guilty of sexual assault – Galesburg Register

GALESBURG — A Galesburg man was found guilty of two counts of criminal sexual assault of a relative after a two-day bench trial.

Francisco J. Zepeda, 44, West Knox Street, was found guilty of the two counts Friday afternoon by Circuit Judge Paul Mangieri following a two-day bench trial.

The counts are mandatory consecutive sentences and each carries a mandatory prison term between 4 and 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The charges centered on allegations that Zepeda had sex with a minor, 16 at the time, on Aug. 2, 2015, and Aug. 4, 2015.

The victim in the case testified during the first day of the bench trial, which occurred a few weeks back.

Zepeda’s bail was revoked and he will remain in the Knox County jail until his sentencing hearing, set for 1:30 p.m. July 26.
