I spent two decades secretly addicted to porn and sex. Shame keeps too many women silent

Erica Garza’s favourite porn scene of all time involves 50 men, two women, a warehouse, a hairdryer and a taxi.

You may have to re-read that sentence a few times to digest it. But even then, Garza says whatever you envisage won’t be as stomach-churning as the reality.

‘Porn for women’ was the top trending search term on Pornhub this year, a reminder that women are watching porn (and always have done) and increasingly talking about watching porn.

But the discussion shudders to a halt at the women who feel worried they have a problematic relationship with porn. Stigma and shame keep those women largely silent. For more than two decades, Garza says she was one of them.
