A teacher and coach at Stoughton High School has resigned after allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual relations with a former student.
STOUGHTON – A Stoughton High School teacher has resigned after being faced with a police investigation into alleged inappropriate sexual relations with a former student and imminent termination.
School Superintendent Marguerite Rizzi said in a press release Wednesday afternoon that the teacher, who was not identified, had resigned after being served with an “intention to dismiss” notice by the district, which signals the start of the firing process.
Rizzi said state laws bar the release of the teacher’s name at this time, but multiple sources revealed to The Enterprise that the teacher is Timothy Norton, an engineering teacher at the school. He is also a girls softball coach and runs the after-school Destination Imagination program.
