Drink and drugs still blight ‘no-go’ park despite protection order

More than 100 people have been removed from a Coventry park previously named as a hotspot for paedophiles and anti-social behaviour.

The action has been taken since Edgwick Park, Foleshill, was made subject to a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in April 2016.

It was put in place after a report by police and the council found children were being given drugs and alcohol by older men there.

Now the order is due to run out – despite a catalogue of issues remaining and many residents still feeling the park is a “no-go” area.

Those in charge of the city’s parks say groups of adults are still drinking alcohol and taking and dealing drugs in the park, right next to a primary school.
