Residents north of Toronto are being warned by York Regional Police following a $1.7 million bust of illegal cannabis and cannabis edibles that could be mistaken for candy.
Police say the edibles seized include gummy bears, chocolate bars, lollipops and cotton candy.
An investigation began Feb. 28 after officers allegedly viewed a suspicious transaction near Keele St. and Steeles Ave. W.
A suspect was arrested.
Police allege the Vaughan man was in possession of 400 grams of cannabis flower, more than $6,000 in cash and documents related to a dispensary in downtown Toronto.
Cops later seized cannabis and cannabis-related products at a commercial building and cannabis dispensary.
Emil Mikhailov, 42, is charged with cannabis distribution offences.
