COBRIDGE: Car wash worker Alan Ali was stopped by police for driving without a licence – and found to be over the alcohol limit.

Officers pulled the 33-year-old’s vehicle over when it was flagged up as having no insurance. Magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard he then provided a positive roadside breath test.

Prosecutor Sara Beddow said: “His reading at the police station was 69mg in breath – the legal limit is 35. He was the holder of a provisional driving licence but he was not being supervised at the time.”

Ali, of Stonor Street, Cobridge, pleaded guilty to driving while over the alcohol limit, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance on July 20.
