A computer shop assistant secretly stole private pictures from customers for his own sexual gratification and hoarded almost 20,000 indecent images of children.

Currys PC World worker Steven Hawkes, 38, copied photos from hard drives while transferring them from his customers’ old devices to their new ones.

Pictures of a women’s breasts and a teenage girl’s prom were among those Hawkes stole, Stroke-on-Trent Crown Court heard.
