Gay couple ‘let down’ by Ireland after struggle to get Irish passport for son in Canada

A gay married couple said Ireland is “turning their back on same sex couples” – after a long struggle to get a passport for their son.

Irishmen Jay O’Callaghan, 34, and Aaron O’Bryan, 35, who currently live in Canada, and had their baby son Jake through a surrogate.

They moved across the pond seven years ago but came home to wed after the marriage referendum in 2016. The couple moved back to start their family soon after.

Loving dad Jay said: “Canadian Law allows for both fathers to be named on the birth cert giving us both legal rights to our son.
